A Yangtze Landscape

A Yangtze Landscape utilizes a non-narrative style, setting off from the Yangtze's marine port Shanghai, filming all the way to the Yangtze River's source, Qinghai/Tibet - filming a total distance of thousands of kilometers. Experimental music and noise recorded live on scene are used in post-production, painstakingly paired with relatively independent visuals, creating a magically realistic atmosphere contrasted with people seeming to be 'decorative figures' right out of traditional Chinese landscape scrolls.

In Yuncheng County, Shandong, there is a girl born in the 90s named Han Wenjing who was paraplegic in a car accident in her childhood. As Han Wenjing gets older and older, she is worried about her future life. Marriage has become the biggest concern of parents. An Ling is a successful writer of romance novels. What is unknown is that all of her novels were written by her deceased mother but published under her name. The publisher urged her to write her seventh novel, but she had no romantic relationship before and was not good at writing. The film is about a woman from a rural area and works in a small restaurant as a cleaner with very low pay. As she has to support her family (mother and daughter), she has no money for herself for better makeup or dress up. She has low esteem. She later was fired by the boss. Because of no money and no home, she goes to the massage parlor and works there a sex worker. It happens that the first customer is the chef of previous restaurant. She has admired him for a while. In this first sex exchange, she is well satisfied both emotionally as well as economically. She starts sex work this way and becomes more confident.

Gas

On April 6, 2001, a gas explosion occurred in the Chenjiashan Coal Mine of the Tongchuan Mining Bureau in Shaanxi Province, killing 38 people. On November 28, 2004, a gas explosion occurred in the Chenjiashan coal mine, and 166 people were killed. Five years later, Lin Xin, the son of the miners, filmed this film about mine disasters. Through the oral interviews of more than 20 people, such as miners and family members of the victims, and random interviews on the street, the film presents the real life of the miners and the cruel and complicated social reality behind the mine disaster from different angles. This film is the end of Lin Xin's "Trilogy of Survival".

Classmates

Twenty plus classmates look back into the past, tracing back through a 30 year history. One after another adapts to the random events that come to shape their lives, to the four seasons of life and nature. The years they were about experience coincided with the reforms and opening up of China. Floating in the changes of the new era, some experience compromises and the loss of ideals, whilst some keep struggling ahead with great determination. Thirty years later, Lin Xin encounters his old classmates, and records their individual lives and history; the ease of monotony, the loneliness of success, the weariness of a life of plentiful, the helplessness of poverty... all come forth in the lives of these group of people, becoming an epitome of the lives of ordinary people in small to middle-sized cities in this era, and at the same time reflecting on a generation that advances forward undefeated.

THE LONGWANG CHRONICLES: A YEAR OF LIFES IN A CHINESE VILLAGE

Unusually popular religions and extreme secular beliefs, unconstrained power and no authoritarian society, people work hard on the land and live thrifty but do not believe in the meaning of life at all. This is Longwang Village, an empty old farming society, the most essential reality of an ordinary western village. The film does not have a perpetual plot. The images are presented with the changing of the four seasons. There is no great joy or great sadness. Everything is recorded, and no results are produced. Strictly speaking, this is actually just a rural video file, a running account of ordinary western villages without all rhetoric.

Cheng Sanhe, the first "Kanu" who successfully filed for bankruptcy in Taiwan, went from being inexplicably indebted at the beginning to realizing that he had already owed millions of debts. The bank's collection and the finance company used threats and intimidation to collect debts. Sanhe has since fallen into the hell of "using cards to raise cards". Taiwan’s first "card god" Yang Huiru, who successfully profited from banks with bonus points, used the loopholes in bank bonuses to successfully connect relatives and friends to purchase tickets or shopping station goods by swiping cards, and then use online auctions to earn the difference.
