The film honours everyday people and local activists who are fighting to defend rivers and aims to spread the word of the plight of these rivers, showing a new style of nature conservation that is fun, energetic and effective.

COINTELPRO 101
COINTELPRO 101 exposes illegal surveillance, disruption, and outright murder committed by the US government in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. “COINTELPRO” refers to the official FBI COunter INTELigence PROgram carried out to surveil, imprison, and eliminate leaders of social justice movements and to disrupt, divide, and destroy the movements as well. Many of the government's crimes are still unknown. Through interviews with activists who experienced these abuses first-hand, with rare historical footage, the film provides an educational introduction to a period of intense repression and draws relevant lessons for the present and future.

Michael Franti, winner of the San Francisco Foundation 2009 Community Leadership Awards (the Helen Crocker Russell Award) - artist, activist, founder of Spearhead, for embodying a social movement of justice and activism and being a voice for the vulnerable. By founding the music groups Spearhead and the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, as well as the Power to the Peaceful festival, Michael built an underground movement to spread a message of social justice and advocated for underrepresented people. His recent film, I Know I'm Not Alone, highlights the human cost of war and empowers people to utilize their vote and recognize their collective power to impact American foreign policy.
Greg Moore - 2013 San Francisco Foundation Community Leadership Awards
The San Francisco Foundation 2013 Community Leadership Awards presents Greg Moore, president and CEO of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, with the Robert C. Kirkwood Award, made to an individual in recognition of outstanding community service, commitment, and inspired leadership. Greg has been instrumental in the conversion of historic military posts into vibrant national parklands, the restoration of Crissy Field, the creation of an extensive trail system, and programs to engage diverse communities in park stewardship and education. Reverend Michael McBride has tirelessly sought to address the alarming epidemic of gun violence, leading a local and national push to dramatically decrease gun violence and mass incarceration. He was one of 12 faith leaders asked to meet with and make recommendations to Vice President Joe Biden in order to help shape President Obama's gun violence prevention policy, and was just recently named one of 13 faith leaders to watch in 2013 by the Center for American Progress.

Seabrook 1977
In April 1977, the small coastal town of Seabrook, New Hampshire became an international symbol in the battle over atomic energy. Concerned about the dangers of potential radioactive accidents, over 2,000 members of the Clamshell Alliance, a coalition of environmental groups, attempted to block construction of a nuclear power plant. 1,414 people were arrested in that civil disobedience protest and jailed en masse in National Guard armories for two weeks.
